I think one major problem with YouTD is it's inability to create a atmosphere and generate competitiveness. Who cares if you reach 360, everybody is going to have left by then. The lack of teamplay also certainly doesn't help. The team modes on YouTD are boring if you ask me.
Most often it's 8 players full house. Die. Leave.
Meaning that the better you are, the longer you spend in the game all by yourself, and we must remember WC3 is meant to be a online game.
I am comparing this to Legion TD which I started playing a month ago. It is way more popular than YouTD here on BA, especially after I stopped hosting YouTD because it got boring.

It is a comparable game.
You build "towers". No need to get to technical here. Just because the towers in Legion TD move does not make it a non-TD. You try and survive the waves.
Mario vs Call Of Duty? More like Metroid vs Call Of Duty.
I was just trying to point out the more successful TDs have more interaction with players.

In almost every game, if you die you leave.

I mean that in almost every game, the game ends when you die, so there's no need to stay.

Please provide an example of an online game where once you die you leave, WHILST other people remain. The majority are [Game finishes and EVERYBODY leaves]. Or you die and instantly respawn and the game goes on until you leave voluntarily YouTD on the other hand has people drop off slowly like a Predator movie, meaning if you reach lvl 360 and second last person only reached 120 you in the game alone for like 2 hours.

I am comparing this to Legion TD which I started playing a month ago. That’s exactly what I’m trying to talk about since a few months. I suggested a Versus Mode in which your killing of waves influences the waves of your opponents and stuff. There are a lot of games that show how this can work out. Enfo would by an example. Legion TD is another great example. It’s even closer to YouTD. And the great Castle Defense ofc. What those games have is great competitiveness. Not player vs. ai but more player vs. player. What those games lack is the great love and detail that’s in YouTD. YouTD is the best TD by far, hands down. It got so much detail. Something like a Versus Mode could make it even better imo. But I totally understand that this would be most likely a lot of work. So I’m really patient. Maybe some day there will be a little more PvP and competitiveness in the game. Who knows.

Pretty much every solo TD --> youTD is a solo td (90% of games) And here I was expecting Diablo 3 and L4D to be on your list. Your list covers about 1% of the custom scene for WC3. That's 1% of slowly dying game from 2003. Not to mention solo TDs are virtually inexistant now in WC3. Never seen any other TDs hosted. So your "all" was really a "0.0001%" of games are like this.

So you are comparing diablo3, dota or any rpg with a td?
YouTD is 90% of the times a solo td, and in every solo td, once you die, you leave. That's it.
