I just got finished being called a "noob" because I massed artillery towers.
4vs4, other team started buidilng artillery towers.. OKAY.. I dont like them, but if they're going to build them, then so am I.
I built 10 of them or so and the host started calling me a "noob" and lost his temper. I told him I only started building them in response to his team. This guy was a nut case and started cursing at me and then threatened to kick me. So I said OK, that's all you had to say, dont build them.
I stopped building them after I had 15 or so, and then he said I ruined the game because of it and I was a <racial term> noob.
He said he'd remake but I wasn't invited. Then this loser started whispering me calling me racial names.
Honestly.. WTF? I'm only on battle.net for fun, and it's JUST A GAME! I told him that too, it was just a game and it was only the first round. He didn't want to hear it though.
Sad really..
But on the same note, maybe an idea for future versions is a way to disable siege and towers by the host? When the host is doing the setup he could choose a "No Siege" game mode, which would disable artillery towers, elf towers, all towers really, plus siege weapons. What's left is basically an all-unit warfare with no worries about towers or siege getting in the way.. could be pretty interesting and probably pretty popular. At least it'd give us the option for it.. traditional gameplay, or no siege gameplay.

The "problem" in CF is, if the game takes to long , to many units are on the map and it starts to lagg...
So the game must be quick, otherwise it wonnt make fun if u ve 5 fps...
I fear a "only-unit" game would take very long, so it would lagg massiv. But Perhabs the skill-Level (Hp of all Units of a player) can be set down to 50%, so units die faster...
Don't know if it works...

No towers/siege making game take longer is not true. Before i put towers into CF, game ended really fast, i can implement this mode, i put it on my list. But which things to remove?:
siege-> removed
normal defense towers -> removed
but:
artillery? its no tower, also remove?
death pit/obelisk of light? they are towers in some way but the dont really defend your base, so i think no remove.
City of Decay/Erasor/Tidal Guardian? What about these?
concerning the flamers: im sorry i can't do anything against them. I also hate these players... well maybe there will be a CF league some day, where such players get just banned
edit: i split this topic because it has nothing to do with "Human" anymore

My vote would go for removing ALL towers (especially artillery) as well as siege weapons leaving the only units that can be made are melee, air, and ranged.
Of course that would be an "extra" game mode that is completely optional and up to the host to select when starting the game. I have a strong feeling it'd be popular though because people always bitch about the towers and siege weapons.
Obelisk of light would be a tower too.. I still remember our game where we had just one elf on each team - each of them built maybe 40 of those things.. so by the time the rest of our units spawned, they were picked off right in front of their building. Units never made contact with eachother after that because the towers kept getting to them first.

well then what s about volcano and such things? it can also kill units. And eraser, it also kills? And when leaving artillery out of the game i could also remove Shrine of Destruction, should i?

I think if u take away all towers, the game will be imba.
BTW mass artilleries is really annoying me.

In my opinion its fine to leave the towers and seige weapons as it is. If you can't kill those seige weapons that means your force is much weaker than your enemy, it just take more time to lose if there is no seige weapon.

but u can't mass shrines of destructions like artillery
and shrine of destructions don't have splash + burning ground
but what about one "only units" mode ?
you can't build anything then normal units (Siege weapons, Towers and Magic Buildings can't be built in this mode)

yes, this would also be cool.
@Ickiu,Faust: did you already play v1.04c??? because there massing artillery should be as difficult as massing shrines of destruction.
Shrine: 4 Food 450 gold
Artillery: 2 Food 180 gold
so one shrine is about 2,5 artilleries and i think 1 shrine is much more effective than 2,5 artilleries...(considering food shrine is only 2 artilleries!)

i think u should remove Artillery or make a higer price. :/ kind a hard to play when it a rain of bomb's over you ....
and siege weapons should maybe have a bit lower dmg ?. or somthing -.- becus it very hard to fight ppl whne they got 4-5++ siege machines and som units in the front u are dead -.-

did you play 1.04c?? please make comments about artillery only if you played 1.04c because it got a hard nerf. The Siege weapons: well you should be dead if there are 4-5 and you cant kill the units in the front, if you weren't dead game would last infinitly

Yes, i played it, but i thought it may be fun to play without any artillery  (and Magic Buildings / Towers)
Only Unit vs. Unit would be fun too

Think there should ONLY be buildings that produce unit...
No buffs, no Tower, no siege, nothing else...
