Description
This ancient library uses its knowledge to increase experience gain.

Abilities
Divine Knowledge
Every 5 seconds this tower grants 2 experience to a random tower in 500 range.

Level Bonus:
+0.2 experience
Divine Teachings
Adds a buff to the targeted tower which lasts 10 seconds. The buff increases the amount of experience the tower gains by 100%. This tower gains 2 experience every time it casts this buff.

Level Bonus:
+0.2 seconds duration
+2% experience gain.

Active ability:
Mana cost: 30
Cooldown: 5 sec
Range: 500
Divine Research
Increases the experience gain from creeps in 900 range by 30%.

Level Bonus:
+1% experience
Specials
+4% mana regen/lvl

This is the discussion thread for the tower Library of Alexandria (367)

Creator's comments for this tower:

An unique astral tower with no attack. It increases creeps bounty and experience. It also gains experience over time.

I have some questions:

How can i prevent my tower from attacking?
How can i display an effect whenever my towers gains experience?

Suggestions and comments are always welcome!

Simply change the value for activated attacks (weapsOn) in the object editor to "none".

You said the tower gets experience over time in the first post, if this is done with a trigger, you can simply put the effect in the trigger giving exp to the tower.

function SFXAtUnit takes string effectPath, unit onWhichUnit returns nothing

What does it have to be in my case?

I don't know this function, what about using this one:

The complete code would look like this

you could use
call SFXAtUnit("custom path instead of / you need // here ",the terget the effect shal be displayed on)
if wanting a special effect on your unit
or you could use:
call tower.getOwner().displayFloatingTextX(insert text here),target,0,0,r,g,b,0,duration)
to display a text to the towerowner with color red = r color green = g and color blue = b.

Plz remove the human flags from the model. I think this doesnt really fit to astral (its more "iron").

It would also be cool if the tower would have an ability to transfer exp to an other tower. Otherwise the tower only increases the creep exp and bounty, which isnt really much for a unique tower (i think). It would also make this tower more tactical.
Otherwise the tower will be up on level 25 after 649 * 5 = 3245 sec = 54 Mins without any further usage. This is much time, but transfer the exp instead of using it for a level up will open much more tactical options. And if a pure transfer is imba (dont know it), the tower could lose 1 exp extra for every exp transfered...
So:
Other tower: +1 exp
Library: -2 exp

The tower has been updated to version v2!

Creator's reason for this update:

The tower has no attack anymore.
Changed periodical event from 5 seconds 1 exp to 10 seconds 2 exp.
An animation is now displayed every 10 seconds.
Fixed tooltip.
Didn't remove the flags yet.

I think the following things should be changed:
  • Remove the human flags
  • Remove the white blocks, the glowing rune stones are flying on (replace by sunken ruins pillars)
  • Remove runes on the ground (i think it doesnt look good)
  • Think about the the 2 priest with its tables of woods and small books. Perhaps simpls replace them with Obelisk, where a book is flying on the top (to get a bit of the Basic Knowledge theme)
  • Use this icon (fits much better to a library):

Perhaps it could look like this (will fit much more to astral and have less doodads):

The tower has an attack now and uses a powerful spell when it gains a level. Can someone help me with creating a nice effect for the spell?
